International Moscow Kurdish Film Festival to be held on Sept. 18

Gardanzari also revealed that directing and filmmaking professionals can submit their works through FilmFreeway until June 10.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Gulizar Karam Gardanzari, the manager of the International Moscow Kurdish Film Festival, on Friday told Kurdistan24 that the Festival, in its fourth edition, will take place from September 18 to 22 in Moscow.

Gardanzari also revealed that directing and filmmaking professionals can submit their works through FilmFreeway until June 10.

“The Moscow Kurdish Film Festival has attracted great interest from many people for three years. Not only has the diaspora been interested in the festival, but it also received a great deal of attention from the film industry last year,” she noted.

“In addition to introducing the audience to cinema, we intend to introduce diverse Kurdish culture. Last year, we were able to open an exhibition of contemporary Kurdish art,” she then added.

Last year, 41 films from Iran, Turkey, Syria, Greece, Iraq, Spain, Sweden, and Germany were shortlisted for the film festival.

Six feature films, seven documentaries, and 28 short films shot between 2020 and 2023 were screened at the festival.
