ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The fourth International Moscow Kurdish Film Festival is scheduled to take place from September 18 to 22, with media sponsorship provided by Kurdistan24. The festival aims to celebrate Kurdish cinema and foster an intercultural dialogue with Russia.
Festival manager, Gulizar Karam Gardanzari, on Friday told Kurdistan24 that seven feature films and eight documentaries have been selected for screening, along with 14 short films and nine short documentaries. This year’s event will maintain its tradition of bringing together filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts from across the globe, continuing its mission of cultural exchange.
Gardanzari emphasized that the 2024 edition will focus on the Yezidi community and the ancient religion of Mesopotamia, themes reflected in the festival's promotional materials. This focus underscores the importance of preserving Kurdish culture and history through film.
A total of 12 countries will be represented at the festival, including Kurdistan, Iraq, Turkey, Iran, France, Syria, Canada, and the Netherlands. These films showcase the rich diversity of Kurdish cinema while offering a platform for filmmakers to share their stories with an international audience.
First launched in 2021, the festival has grown steadily over the years, with Kurdistan24 serving as a key partner by providing media coverage and support.
