Former ICC Prosecutor: Kurdish genocide ignored
WASHINGTON, United States (Kurdistan24) – Luis Moreno Ocampo, the first Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), recently told Kurdistan24 that the Kurdish genocide (Saddam's chemical attack on Halabja in 1988) has been ignored by the international community.
On March 16, 1988, the Iraqi Ba’ath regime indiscriminately targeted the Kurdish population of Iraq with a series of poison gas attacks that killed over 5,000 civilians instantly. A further 7,000 to 10,000 people were injured.
