KRG response to Shia militia: Peshmerga ready for any threat, injustice
The Asaib Ahl al-Haq’s remarks and their hostile tone is unjust against Peshmerga and the Kurdistan Region.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – The Peshmerga Ministry on Thursday responded to threats made toward the Kurdistan Region by a Shia militia group in Iraq.
In a recent statement, the spokesperson of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, an Iranian-backed Shia militia in Iraq, accused the Peshmerga of working with the US to threaten and attack Hashd al-Shaabi.
The Ministry of Peshmerga at the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) addressed the comments by the Shia militia, stating the Peshmerga forces were ready to respond to any threats against Kurdistan.
The Asaib Ahl al-Haq’s remarks and their hostile tone is unjust against Peshmerga and the Kurdistan Region, a Peshmerga Ministry report read.
According to the Ministry, the threats are a continuation of former Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s intimidations against the people of Kurdistan.
The statement informed the people of Kurdistan would not tolerate aggression from any side as they are not aggressive to anyone, adding the “people of Kurdistan are ready to repel any such threats.”
The Ministry of Peshmerga hopes such “voices” did not represent Hashd al-Shaabi and called upon the Shia leaders to “put an end” to the coercive statements.
“The people of Kurdistan fought terror, and due to the sacrifices of the Peshmerga, Kurdistan’s soil is protected from the terrorists,” the Ministry emphasized.
The statement added the Peshmerga forces have been defending Kurdistan with their will and blood relying on the support of people from Kurdistan only.
