Explosions target two Kurdistan-affiliated banks in Iraqi capital

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Two explosions targeted two banks affiliated with the Kurdistan Region in the Iraqi capital on Sunday evening, one local source told Kurdistan 24.
The incidents occurred around the same time, at about 10 p.m. local time in the Karada commercial area, the source explained. The security forces reportedly cordoned off as ambulances were seen rushing the scene.
Another source told Kurdistan 24 that the perpetrators had used "two sound devices" in the attacks, targeting the Cihan Bank near the capital's National Theater and Kurdistan Bank in al-Wathiq Square.
They noted that at least two people, including a woman, were wounded in the attacks. One witness explained to Kurdistan 24 that the Cihan Bank building had suffered severe damage, especially its outer wall.
One civilian car parked near Cihan Bank was also damaged.

Though no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, it comes amid a recent bout of assaults targeting Kurdish and Sunni political parties, as well as the US Embassy in Baghdad's fortified Green Zone and bases hosting US troops and contractors.
