KRG highlights support for UNITAD's mission

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Dindar Zebari, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Coordinator for International Advocacy, on Monday highlighted KRG’s support for UNITAD's mission, during his meeting with Ana Peyró Llopis, Acting Special Adviser and Head of the United Nations Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by Da’esh/Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (UNITAD).
The main topic of the meeting was Security Council Resolution No. 2697 implementation and joint efforts in documenting ISIS crimes.
Zebari stated that the KRG has collaborated with UNITAD on document archiving projects in the past.
“Concerning the implementation of Resolution No. 2697, the KRG has formed its technical teams to hand over the documents from the Erbil and Duhok offices and will participate in training courses on document documentation,” he added.
Meanwhile, Llopis noted that “In the implementation of their duties, I am pleased with the continued coordination and support provided by the KRG, especially in the project of archiving and documenting ISIS crimes, which has made a lot of progress, particularly training in document documentation projects within the region.”
