Turkish tourist bus fined heavily for traffic violations in Erbil
The Erbil traffic police seized the bus due to its numerous violations and accumulated fines.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A Turkish tourist bus has been fined heavily for violating multiple traffic rules, with excessive speeding captured by traffic cameras leading to its confiscation by authorities.
The bus, which transports tourists between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey, committed 135 speeding violations in Erbil province alone, according to a statement from the Erbil Traffic Information Department.
The Erbil traffic police seized the bus due to its numerous violations and accumulated fines.
The total amount of fines for the 135 violations amounted to 37 million dinars, as reported by the Erbil Traffic Department.
In light of this incident, it’s noteworthy that on March 27, 2024, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers issued several decisions to benefit citizens and address the economic situation.
One of these decisions, the seventh item, pertains to the exemption of traffic violation penalties. Citizens can receive a 20% reduction on old penalties and new violations, primarily due to speeding recorded by traffic cameras, until the end of September 30, 2024.
