IBBC Spring Conference highlights Kurdistan Region's investment opportunities

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — On Tuesday, Mohammad Shukri, Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment, delivered an inspiring speech at the 12th Britain Business Council (IBBC) Conference in London, underscoring the Kurdistan Region's commitment to fostering international economic ties and inviting increased British investment.

Addressing a distinguished audience, Shukri expressed gratitude to the IBBC for organizing the event and highlighted the Kurdistan Region's longstanding participation in IBBC conferences across key global cities, including London, Dubai, and Erbil.

He noted the significance of IBBC's recent establishment of an office in Erbil, emphasizing its role in deepening economic cooperation.

Shukri emphasized the Kurdistan Region's attractiveness for foreign investment, citing security, stability, and a host of incentives such as land allocation, tax exemptions, and duty-free imports as key advantages.

He highlighted successful collaborations with UK companies, including landmark projects by industry giants like Land Rover and the British International University, affirming the region's readiness for more British investments.

Shukri outlined strategic sectors ripe for investment, including agriculture, industry, and tourism. He spotlighted the Invest Kurdistan initiative, launched to showcase specific opportunities within these sectors, including agrifood, petrochemicals, construction materials, resort development, and renewable energy.

"In agriculture," Shukri elaborated, "our fertile land and favorable climate support a robust sector with promising subsectors like dairy, livestock, and horticulture." He noted significant developments in the industrial sector, particularly in construction materials and steel production, which cater extensively to Iraq's burgeoning market demands.

Furthermore, Shukri extended invitations for British companies to explore opportunities in renewable energy, finance, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and information technology, stressing mutual benefits through strategic partnerships and standalone projects.

Concluding his address, Shukri expressed appreciation for the IBBC's pivotal role in facilitating strong business relationships between Kurdistan and the UK. He affirmed Kurdistan's commitment to advancing economic cooperation and looked forward to fostering a future of shared prosperity and enduring partnerships.
