KDP President Masoud Barzani Extends New Islamic Year Greetings

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Sunday, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani has conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world on the occasion of the New Islamic Year 1446 AH and the first month of Muharram.
In his message, President Barzani expressed his wishes for happiness and peace to all. He highlighted the importance of this holy occasion as a time to promote mutual acceptance, peace, tranquility, and brotherhood within the region.

"In the name of God, the Almighty, the Most Merciful, on the occasion of the New Year 1446 AH and the first month of Muharram, I extend my warmest congratulations to all Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq, and the world and wish everyone happiness," President Barzani stated.
"I hope this holy occasion will be an opportunity to strengthen the culture of mutual acceptance and the development of peace, tranquility, and brotherhood in our region," he added.
The month marking the Islamic New Year is known as Muharram, and it is considered the second holiest month after Ramadan.
The lunar Hijri calendar consists of 12 months and either 354 or 355 days, approximately 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar. While it commences with Muharram, it ends with the observance of Dhul al-Hijjah.
