Man sentenced to seven years for impersonating Iraqi Prime Minister's advisor

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - On Sunday, the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) sentenced a man to seven years in prison for falsely claiming to be an advisor to the Iraqi prime minister.

In a statement, the SJC announced, "The al-Karkh Crime Court in Baghdad has issued a final decision on the trial of a man who claimed to be an advisor to the prime minister."

The council revealed that the convicted man took cash from a citizen, promising to secure a general amnesty for the citizen's son, who had been sentenced to death under Decision No. 160 issued in 1983 and paragraphs 1 and 2 of Article 1.
