Duhok exports 130,000 tons of domestic products in seven months

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – In the past seven months, approximately 130,000 tons of domestic products have been exported to Iraqi provinces, according to Ahmad Jameel, Director General of Agriculture in Duhok.
On Thursday, Ahmad Jameel, Director General of Agriculture in Duhok announced that from the beginning of the year up to July 25, a total of 129,647 tons of various products have been shipped out.
He noted that the surge in exports has encouraged more farmers to engage in agriculture, with no farmers in Duhok facing hardships over the past two years.
The most exported products include potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and strawberries, alongside other items such as cherries, apples, peaches, and raspberries.
This year, significant agricultural activity has been recorded with the following crops planted:
- 10,838 dunams of tomatoes
- 8,941 dunams of cucumbers
- 1,296 dunams of eggplant
- 37,333 dunams of potatoes
- 12,722 dunams of raspberries
- 6,103 dunams of strawberries
- 8,755 acres of onions
- 1,817 acres of beans
- 1,860 acres of additional crops
Jameel emphasized that the increased exports have been instrumental in bolstering the local agricultural sector and supporting farmers in the region.
