Youth demonstrate against unemployment in Dhi Qar province
The protesters called for more support from both local and federal governments, criticizing the inadequacy of social welfare.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Sunday, youths in Dhi Qar province took to the streets to protest against unemployment, voicing frustration over the presence of foreign workers while local job opportunities remain scarce.
The demonstrators expressed their grievances to Kurdistan24, highlighting the struggles faced by their generation. "We are descendants of the wounded province of Dhi Qar. Today we have come to demand our simple rights. We are the generation of the 1990s. We have not seen any benefits from previous governments, especially in employment. We demand our rights, whether in the private or public sectors," said one protester.
Another demonstrator emphasized the sense of neglect felt by the youth in Nasiriyah, blaming the local government for their plight. "First of all, we are unemployed. I want to know why we are in this situation. The reason is the government. The local government is oppressing the youth of Nasiriyah. Or let them tell us what our problem is."
The protesters called for more support from both local and federal governments, criticizing the inadequacy of social welfare. "We have nothing. Social welfare does not cover us. We even don't receive 175,000 Iraqi dinars. We ask the local and federal governments to pay a little attention to our youth," one youth stated.
Highlighting their exclusion from various sectors, including the military, a protester remarked, "We are the generation of the 1990s. They don't take us anywhere; they don't even employ us in the military sector. They only remember us during elections. I am human and have the right to a good life."
The demonstration underscores the growing discontent among the youth in Dhi Qar, who continue to demand better job opportunities and governmental support.
