ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani departed for Egypt and Tunisia on Tuesday morning for official visits to both countries.
The Iraq's Prime Minister's press office confirmed the visits but did not disclose specific details of the agenda.
The visits follow a recent invitation extended by Tunisian President Kais Saied and Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani.
The invitation was conveyed during a meeting on Saturday, May 11, 2024, between Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar, who was in Baghdad to participate in the 17th Session of the Joint Iraqi-Tunisian Committee.
This diplomatic tour builds on al-Sudani's visit to Cairo in June of last year, during which he signed 11 memoranda of understanding with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
These agreements covered a wide range of areas, including the banking sector, small and medium enterprises, trade and industry, diplomatic capacity building, and tourism.
