Soran's breaks ground on new hospital expansion

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - A significant step toward enhancing healthcare accessibility in the Independent Administration of Soran was taken on Tuesday with the groundbreaking for a three-story building at Ashti Teaching Hospital.
This development is part of the service initiatives undertaken by the ninth cabinet to bolster the healthcare system in the Kurdistan Region.
Soran Health Director Kamaran Mohammed highlighted the impact of this expansion, stating that it will enable patients in Soran to receive treatment locally, eliminating the need to travel to Erbil.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony, Halgurd Sheikh Najib, Supervisor of the Soran Independent Administration, emphasized the government's commitment to the health sector.
"We have given the health sector great attention in the past three years," he said, acknowledging the support of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani for service projects across various sectors.
Sheikh Najib expressed confidence that the project will alleviate overcrowding at the hospital and remove obstacles hindering the region's health sector.
Kamaran Mohammed provided further details, outlining a three-phase implementation with a budget of 765 million dinars.
The first floor of the new building will house 10 consulting rooms and accommodate additional specialist doctors.
The second floor will feature three advanced operating rooms equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, increasing the total number of operating rooms from four to seven and significantly reducing patient wait times for surgery.
The third floor will be dedicated to a kidney dialysis center with 20 dialysis machines and 20 patient beds.
This comprehensive expansion marks a significant milestone in improving healthcare services and reducing the burden on patients in Soran Independent Administration.
