Speaking on Saturday, Abdul Ghani revealed that a major gas investment project, with a capacity of 125 million cubic meters, is set to be launched by the end of the year.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraq’s Oil Minister, Hayyan Abdul Ghani, announced the discovery of 10 gas investment sites, signaling a significant opportunity for private sector involvement in the country’s energy sector.
Speaking on Saturday, Abdul Ghani revealed that a major gas investment project, with a capacity of 125 million cubic meters, is set to be launched by the end of the year. This project is part of Iraq's broader strategy to expand its natural gas production and reduce its reliance on oil.
“There are 10 gas fields that have not yet been offered to companies for development,” the minister stated. “The Iraqi Oil Ministry is offering these opportunities to private companies. We will visit the United States in the coming days to promote these prospects to American firms.”
The ministry also disclosed the discovery of a significant gas well with a capacity of 1,000 cubic feet, adding to ongoing efforts to boost gas production. Additionally, a gas investment project in al-Faiha with a capacity of 300 cubic meters has recently commenced operations.
These initiatives underscore Iraq’s commitment to attracting international investment in its energy sector, particularly from US companies, as the country looks to diversify its energy sources and increase natural gas output.
