Last heatwave expected to hit Kurdistan Region, Iraq early next week
Speaking to Kurdistan 24 on Sunday, Kamal noted that while September 22nd marks the official start of autumn, high temperatures will persist until then.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - A final heatwave is expected to hit Iraq and the Kurdistan Region early next week, particularly on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures soaring several degrees Celsius, reaching up to 48 degrees Celsius in Garmian, according to meteorological expert Mohammed Kamal.
Speaking to Kurdistan 24 on Sunday, Kamal noted that while September 22nd marks the official start of autumn, high temperatures will persist until then.
He explained that high humidity levels in the Kurdistan Region are contributing to the prolonged heat, with current rainfall in neighboring Arab countries adding to the moisture in the air.
Kamal assured, however, that following September 22nd, temperatures will gradually decrease, leading to cooler nights.
Iraqi meteorologists also predict a drop in temperature with the onset of autumn, resulting in more moderate weather during nighttime and early mornings.
Temperatures in the Kurdistan Region are expected to remain between 37 and 40 degrees Celsius, while Baghdad and central regions could experience highs of 41 degrees Celsius. In the southern regions, the mercury is predicted to reach 44 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, according to the Iraqi weather forecast, the first autumn rains are expected to arrive in Iraq within the next 10 days.
