ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Kurdistan Region's Board of Investment signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday, aiming to generate hundreds of thousands of job opportunities across the region. The agreement is part of a larger initiative to address workforce shortages in certain sectors by enhancing the skills of local workers.

Mohammed Shukri, Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment, highlighted the region's need for experts in specific fields. "We have faced a lack of specialists in the Kurdistan Region," Shukri said at a press conference. "With the support of the Jobs.Krd platform, we will address this gap by training and qualifying local cadres for the private sector. Our goal is to develop skilled professionals, in line with Prime Minister Masrour Barzani's directive to ensure that 75 percent of the private sector workforce is local."

Shukri also announced that the initiative would create job opportunities across various sectors, including tourism and manufacturing. "Hundreds of workers will be trained and placed in key industries to harness the potential of the Kurdish workforce," he added.

Anas Kifah Mahmoud, a representative of Jobs.Krd, emphasized that the platform would initially focus on creating jobs in the tourism sector. "We are preparing the groundwork to employ hundreds of people in the tourism industry," he said.

Launched on December 21, 2023, the Jobs.Krd platform aims to connect job seekers with employers in the Kurdistan Region. In the presence of Arin Masrour Barzani, government officials, and foreign consuls, the platform was presented as a vital tool for facilitating employment and supporting economic growth in the region.
