ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Thursday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani warmly welcomed the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Erbil, underscoring the importance of further developing relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Following their meeting, Prime Minister Barzani expressed his satisfaction with the visit on his official social media account, X (formerly Twitter), stating, "It was a pleasure to meet with President Pezeshkian in Erbil today."

He also emphasized the continuation of fostering strong, neighborly relations based on "mutual respect and interests."

President Pezeshkian’s visit to Erbil comes as part of his diplomatic tour in Iraq.

He held discussions with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, focusing on regional cooperation and shared economic, political, and cultural interests.

The Iranian president also had a separate meeting with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani.

The visit marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Iran.
