KDP Vice President calls for active participation in upcoming elections

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Masrour Barzani, Vice President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), on Thursday met with a number of personalities from Erbil to discuss the importance of the upcoming parliamentary elections, set for October 20.
Barzani emphasized the impact of the elections on individual citizens, stating, "Any decision made in the elections will affect us all. We must engage in a frank discourse." He underscored that voter participation is crucial, remarking, “Not taking a stand is a stand. If someone does not vote, others will vote on their behalf.”
The KDP Vice President articulated that this election represents not just a choice for the next four years of governance but is a decisive moment for the future of the Kurdistan Region. “These elections are not only about forming a government; they are vital for maintaining our region's status,” he stated.
Barzani expressed his vision for the future, stating, “We must expect Kurdistan to become the happiest and most developed country in the world. However, there are challenges we must overcome.” He called for unity and active participation from all citizens to secure a prosperous future.
The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) of Iraq on Tuesday approved the candidacy of 1,191 individuals for the upcoming elections, as confirmed by IHEC spokesperson Jumana al-Ghalai. This robust candidate pool reflects a vibrant democratic process in the Kurdistan Region.
