ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region's Prime Minister Masrour Barzani announced on Thursday, a decision to offer contract to all teachers working in religious schools across the Kurdistan Region.

According to an official government statement, Prime Minister Barzani emphasized the significant contributions these teachers have made over the years to religious education.

"As a result of their dedication and service to religious education, we have decided to contract all teachers in religious schools within the framework of the ninth KRG cabinet, ensuring support for all groups in Kurdistan," the statement read.

This decision follows a similar move on August 28, 2024, when Prime Minister Barzani signed an order to appoint lecturers in the Ministries of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research on a contract basis. The decree, known as Decree No. (4142), was issued in recognition of the critical role these lecturers play in maintaining the education system in the Kurdistan Region.

PM Barzani’s government, through these steps, aims to improve job security for educators and reinforce the continuity of educational services, as outlined in Financial Instructions No. (10) of 2019. These measures reflect the government's commitment to enhancing both religious and secular education in the Kurdistan Region.
