ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – During an election rally backing the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) List 190 for the upcoming Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) parliamentary elections, Sidad Barzani, the representative of KDP President Masoud Barzani, delivered a passionate speech in the Raparin region.

He emphasized the region's historical role in the Kurdistan liberation movement while criticizing the local leadership's failure to deliver on promises of development and prosperity.

"We came to Raparin by a road that was better in the 1990s. The people of the region can use that road as a criterion to see who truly serves them," Sidad Barzani stated, highlighting the lack of infrastructure improvement in the area over the decades.

Sidad Barzani conveyed President Masoud Barzani’s special greetings to the residents of Raparin, recalling their significant contributions to the Kurdistan liberation movement led by the late Barzani.

He paid tribute to their sacrifices, saying, “The people of the region have made great sacrifices, suffered chemical attacks and deportations, and their fingerprints are visible in the Kurdistan liberation movement.”

He lamented that the regions of Pishdar (Pişder) and Bitwen, known as “cradles of revolution and struggle,” have not received adequate attention for their development needs.

Sidad Barzani blamed the party currently governing the area for failing to use its power and resources effectively to serve the local population.

Addressing the hardships faced by KDP supporters in Raparin, Barzani acknowledged their resilience: “We know that you have been subjected to pressure and deprivation because of your KDP membership. President Barzani appreciates your tolerance and patience, as you played a role in the revolution and defense of the Kurdistan Regional Government. You will register another historic victory for the KDP List 190 in the region by voting for KDP in the October 20 elections.”

Barzani highlighted the KDP’s long-standing position as the leading party in past elections. “In all the elections of the past 30 years, the KDP has been the first party and the first winner. With the grace of God and your courage, the KDP will be the first, and we will win. KDP’s victory means survival and the strengthening of Kurdistan. The KDP is a party of peace, prosperity, and construction—not destruction and ruin.”

He assured the people of Raparin of the KDP’s commitment to addressing the region's needs in the next government. "Rest assured that we will make more efforts in the new cabinet to give more attention to the Raparin administration in terms of progress, development, and service," he pledged. “We will strive to bring stability, peace, and prosperity to the Raparin region, so that Kurdistan will be proud and strong, and the Raparin region will be peaceful and prosperous.”

Barzani urged the people to participate in the elections and support the KDP’s List 190. “One vote has its own value, and one vote for the KDP should not be wasted,” he emphasized, encouraging voters to help bring about a brighter future for their region.

Reflecting on the past, Barzani noted the struggles faced by the KRG, referencing the events of October 20, 2017, when the KRG faced attacks from multiple parties. “On October 20 this year, we will record another great victory for the KDP and Barzani with our votes,” he declared.

Barzani also pointed to the failed promises of local leaders, such as the unrealized plan for a sugar factory in Ranya. “They were planning to set up a sugar factory in Ranya, so that now we could see the products. But it was just talk. Neither sugar nor sugar cubes were produced,” he remarked, using it as an example of unfulfilled promises.

As the October 20 elections approach, the KDP aims to secure strong support in the Raparin region, promising development, stability, and a new chapter of growth for the people of Kurdistan.
