Zakho hosts second pomegranate, honey fair
The festivities will commence in front of Dalal Bridge.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A vibrant celebration of local agriculture is set to take place in Zakho on Monday. The second annual pomegranate and honey festival will showcase the region's rich produce and support local farmers.
Thirty-one gardeners and beekeepers are expected to participate in the event, which will be held under the supervision of Guhdar Shekho, the supervisor of the Zakho Independent Administration.
The festivities will commence in front of Dalal Bridge.
"The primary goal of this festival is to highlight the exceptional products grown by Zakho's farmers and to promote their marketing," explained Salman Mohammed, the Director General of Agriculture in Zakho.
Zakho has witnessed a significant expansion of pomegranate cultivation this year. Approximately 340,000 pomegranate trees have been planted on 2,825 dunams of land, leading to a projected production of over 13,000 tons.
Beekeeping is also a thriving industry in the region. Zakho boasts a community of more than 257 beekeepers, producing an impressive annual honey yield of over 15,000 tons.
