ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Muthanna al-Samarrai, leader of the Iraqi Azm Alliance, extended his congratulations to the people and leadership of the Kurdistan Region on the successful completion of the sixth parliamentary elections, describing it as a reflection of the sacrifices made by Kurdistan's people in pursuit of democratic choice.
"We commend the significant role played by the Kurdistan Regional Government and the High Electoral Commission in organizing this process effectively," al-Samarrai stated.
"Additionally, we recognize the notable contributions of political parties and their activities through active participation in making this democratic process successful."
The general voting for the Kurdistan Parliament's sixth term took place on Sunday, from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with 2,686,578 eligible voters having the opportunity to cast their ballots.
Meanwhile, Nabard Omar, the head of Kurdistan elections at Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), announced during a press conference that preliminary results of the general vote will be released on Monday.
The smooth execution of the electoral process and high turnout rates have been widely praised by regional and national political figures as a testament to the Kurdistan Region's commitment to democratic principles.
