Kurdistan24 launches unprecedented awards program for Kurdistan Premier League

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan24 has announced an innovative sports initiative for the new Kurdistan Premier League season, introducing a first-of-its-kind weekly awards program to support local athletes, becoming the first media outlet in both Kurdistan Region and Iraq to offer such recognition.
Award Categories and Selection Process
The Kurdistan24 sports desk will present three distinctive awards each week of the league season:
- Player of the Week
- Manager of the Week
- Goal of the Week
A specialized committee will evaluate performances using international standards, with each winner receiving a specially designed, high-quality trophy. Kurdistan24 is working to coordinate with the Kurdistan Football Federation to present these awards jointly.
Selection Criteria
The selection process will incorporate:
- High-quality match coverage and commentary on social media
- Expert committee evaluation of match events
- Input from journalists, fans, and coaches
- Comprehensive analysis of all league matches
League Information
The 2024-2025 Kurdistan Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024. Key details include:
- 16 participating clubs
- Four teams will be relegated to the First Division
- Each club is permitted four professional players
- Kurdish players from outside the Kurdistan Region are classified as professionals
