KRG Ministry of Natural Resources urges swift action to resume fuel supply to key power stations
In a statement issued Thursday, the ministry highlighted significant challenges in transporting crude oil from Erbil to the 51-megawatt (MW) Tasluja power station and the 29-MW Sulaimani power station.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Ministry of Natural Resources has called for immediate measures to restore crude oil deliveries to two vital power stations in the Sulaimani region, citing a prolonged disruption that has impacted electricity generation.
In a statement issued Thursday, the ministry highlighted significant challenges in transporting crude oil from Erbil to the 51-megawatt (MW) Tasluja power station and the 29-MW Sulaimani power station. The suspension of fuel supply, which began in early October, has led to a halt in electricity production at these facilities, affecting the distribution of power to residents in the region.
Despite extensive efforts by the Ministry of Natural Resources to address the issue, logistical obstacles at transportation checkpoints remain unresolved, delaying the critical resumption of fuel flow.
“We urge the relevant authorities to expedite the fuel transport process at checkpoints,” the ministry stated, emphasizing the need for swift action to bring both power stations back online.
If resolved, the restored power output from these stations would play a key role in improving electricity availability for citizens in Sulaimani and the surrounding areas. The Ministry of Natural Resources reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the issue and maintaining a stable energy supply across the region.
