Duhok hosts 5th Middle East Peace and Security Forum
This year’s forum, organized in collaboration with prominent institutions such as Harvard University, Cambridge University, the Atlantic Council, and Wilton Park & Crisis Response Council, will convene leading experts, officials, and academics to address pressing global and regional challenges.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The 5th Middle East Peace and Security (MEPS) Forum is set to begin on Friday at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) in Duhok, running until Sunday, Nov. 24.
This year’s forum, organized in collaboration with prominent institutions such as Harvard University, Cambridge University, the Atlantic Council, and Wilton Park & Crisis Response Council, will convene leading experts, officials, and academics to address pressing global and regional challenges.
“About 124 academics from 40 different countries will participate in the conference, with 73 percent joining for the first time,” Honar Issa, the Director General of MEPS, told Kurdistan24. “The forum will feature a variety of panels and workshops discussing the current global situation and developments in the Middle East,” he added.
Numerous government and political leaders from Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and abroad will also participate in the event, underscoring its international significance.
Last year’s MEPS conference, held on Nov. 20, drew attention with its symbolic gestures and high-profile attendees. During the three-day event, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani presented Kurdistan Region pomegranates and honey to former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The MEPS Forum has become a key platform for fostering dialogue and exploring solutions to some of the Middle East's most complex issues, cementing Duhok's role as a hub for international diplomacy and academic collaboration.
