ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Citizens of Baghdad are actively participating in Iraq's ongoing national census, expressing hopes that the data will lead to more equitable distribution of national resources and better understanding of poverty and unemployment rates across the country.

In Sadr City, more than 1,460 enumerators are currently recording citizen information.

Hussein Ali, the census supervisor for Sadr City, reported, "We are continuing the census process in Sadr City One and Two today. Our enumerators are working across all neighborhoods, and operations are proceeding smoothly. We appreciate the cooperation from the Ministry of Education and local administration."

"This census is crucial for our society as it will reveal accurate rates of poverty and unemployment. We have been waiting for such an initiative for a long time," said Nizar Abdul Hassan, a local resident.

Citizens hope the census will serve as a foundation for fair resource distribution and enable the government to develop better development plans based on precise data.

The nationwide census, which began on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, at 7:00 AM, will continue until midnight Thursday. More than 130,000 enumerators are participating in the process, administering 77 questions about citizens' lives and living conditions.
