Local sources: Administrative Court in Kirkuk holds hearing about Arabs, Turkmens' complaints

According to the sources, the hearing is about those complaints made by some Arabs and Turkmen against the formation of the local government in Kirkuk that was held at the Rashid Hotel in Baghdad on August 10th, 2024.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – According to several sources from the Kirkuk Governorate Council, it is decided that the Administrative Court in Kirkuk arranges a hearing on Sunday.

According to the sources, the hearing is about those complaints made by some Arabs and Turkmen against the formation of the local government in Kirkuk that was held at the Rashid Hotel in Baghdad on August 10th, 2024.

The meeting, held at the al-Rasheed Hotel in Baghdad, now referred to as the (Al-Rasheed Meeting) resulted to Rebwar Taha as elect-governor and Mohammed Hafez as speaker of the council.

The Administrative Court already adjourned the hearing twice in the past due to the large number of complaints.

The Arab coalition and the Turkmen Front in the Kirkuk provincial council have filed complaints against the meeting held at Rashid Hotel in Baghdad on August 10 and the election of the governor.

In an interview arranged in Basi Rojh at the Kurdistan 24, on Sunday, November 10th, 2024, Hassan Turan, the Leader of the Iraqi Turkmen Front stated “we are against the local administration authority of Kirkuk and do not consider the administration to be legitimate.”

On the same show, the leader of the Iraqi Turkmen Front referred to a hearing will be held by the Administrative Court about their complaints, on November 24th, 2024.

The parties including Turkmen Front, revealed that they expect the dissolution of the Kirkuk local administration due to be unconstitutional.

Regarding the Kurdish and Turkmen land in Kirkuk, Hassan Turan said “there is a political will behind that, it does not want Kurds and Turkmen gaining back land-lordship of their own lands in Kirkuk.”
