After fierce fight with cancer, famous Kurdish actor passed away
Shirin pointed out that Mr. Zahir’s health condition recently deteriorated and became worse, the doctors advised to discharge him from the hospital, as the cancer type, he was diagnosed with, was incurable.
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The well-known TV Kurdish drama and theater actor, Zahir Abdullah passed away on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024.
Shirin Sabir, Zahir Abdullah’s wife (both are well-known and have been prolonged Kurdish TV soaps and long drama actors), told Kurdistan 24, on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 “My husband passed away today after a fierce fight with the cancer.” Kurdistan 24 understood from Mrs. Sabir that the funeral ran in Kasnazan cemetery and ceremony was held by the family and relatives.
Shirin pointed out that Mr. Zahir’s health condition recently deteriorated and became worse, the doctors advised to discharge him from the hospital, as the cancer type, he was diagnosed with, was incurable.
On June 27th, 2013, Zahir Abdullah was sent to Turkey for medical treatment and underwent surgery, but it did not take long he passed away with the malignant cancer.
President Masoud Barzani sent a message of condolences to the deceased Zahir Abdullah’s family and friends.
The text of President Barzani's message:
“In the name of God, the Almighty, and the Most Merciful
It is with heavy heart, I have received the news of passing away of the theater and drama actor, Zahir Abdullah.
Zahir Abdullah was a prominent patriotic character and actor in Erbil who faithfully served Kurdish theater and drama.
I extend my condolences to Zahir Abdullah’s family, relatives, acquaintances and all Kurdistan's actors, I appreciate and share their grieving.
I ask God, the Almighty to grant the grand Paradise to the his soul, and patience to all.

Furthermore, the Kurdistan Regional Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani sent a letter of condolences to Zahir Abdullah’s family stating the following:
“Zahir Abdullah was a patriotic actor who highly served Kurdish theater and cinema, he was also a prominent character of Erbil city.
May God, the Almighty grant his soul the Paradise, and to grant peace and comfort to his family”
In addition, the Kurdistan Region President, Nechirvan Barzani extended his condolences to Zahir Abdullah’s family and friends, stating in a message:
“I extend my condolences to his family, acquaintances, colleagues, all actors and art-friendly people, with heavy heart I share their grievance.
The late gave a long-life time serving to Kurdish drama, acting and art, I ask Almighty God to bless his soul with His mercy and grant peace and comfort to all"
