KDP, PUK to convene for discussions on government formation, regional developments

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Monday, Dilshad Shahab, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) negotiation delegation, announced that both the KDP and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) negotiation teams will meet in Pirmam on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024.

The meeting, which is arranged for 10:00 AM, intends to discuss the formation of the tenth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government and delve into current developments in Syria and the broader regional context.

This is going to be the second negotiation meeting between the two political parties since the Kurdistan parliamentary elections.

The first meeting was held in Dabashan last month, which both sides considered as "positive" in a joint statement.

The negotiations come at a vital time as the political parties seek to launch a new regional government and concentrate on complex regional challenges.

The meeting underlines the continuing dialogue and cooperative efforts between the KDP and PUK to navigate the region's political landscape.
