US troops deploy to Kobani amid rising tensions in northern Syria
The deployment follows recent statements by Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the SDF, who announced that SDF forces had been withdrawn from Kobani to ease tensions with Turkey.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A convoy of US military forces arrived in the northern Syrian city of Kobani on Tuesday, as part of efforts to defuse escalating clashes between the US-backed Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA).
The deployment follows recent statements by Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the SDF, who announced that SDF forces had been withdrawn from Kobani to ease tensions with Turkey. Abdi noted that security in the city had been transferred to local internal security forces.
Tensions have been mounting in the region, with the SDF reporting that it successfully repelled an SNA assault near the Tishrin Dam earlier today, halting further advances.
In a parallel move, Turkey reinforced its military presence near Kobani, dispatching troops, tanks, and heavy artillery to the nearby cities of Jarablus and Manbij earlier this week.
The situation remains fluid, with international observers closely monitoring developments as both sides continue to fortify their positions in northern Syria.
