ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Damascus Governor Maher Marwan affirmed on Tuesday his commitment to equality and justice in the Syrian capital, highlighting ongoing and future projects aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure and public services.
Speaking to Kurdistan24’s correspondent in Syria, Dilan Barzan, Marwan emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the governance of Damascus.
“With God's help, the most important thing is that we will treat everyone equally and provide services and rights to all without discrimination,” Marwan stated.
He further underscored his vision for unity and cooperation among Syria's diverse communities. “There will be justice and dignity for everyone in a free Syria, and all communities are part of the Syrian people,” he added.
Marwan’s remarks come as the Damascus administration embarks on new development projects, aiming to enhance the quality of life in the capital and reinforce stability across the region.
Syria's Turkey-backed armed groups on Dec. 8, captured Damascus, marking the collapse of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. The Assad family has ruled the country for over five decades, beginning with Hafez al-Assad in 1971.
