ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraq’s Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaybis al-Saadawi, announced on Saturday that flights between Iraq and Lebanon will resume next Monday, following a directive from Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.

The decision aims to facilitate the return of Lebanese citizens currently in Iraq, the Iraqi Transport Ministry said in a statement. The move comes after flights between the two countries were suspended due to Israel’s military incursion into Lebanon targeting Hezbollah.

Manaf Abdel-Monem, Director General of Iraqi Airways, confirmed that all technical and logistical preparations have been completed to ensure a smooth resumption of services. Abdel-Monem further revealed that flights between Baghdad and Beirut will officially recommence on January 1, 2025.

The resumption of flights is expected to ease travel difficulties for Lebanese nationals and strengthen transport links between Iraq and Lebanon.

The Iraqi government continues to monitor the situation in Lebanon closely, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of passengers and crew during flights.
