Kurdistan Region President extends condolences over South Korean plane crash

In his post, he wrote, "I express my deepest condolences and sympathies to the people and government of the Republic of Korea following the tragic plane crash yesterday."

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Monday, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his condolences to the people and government of South Korea through his official "X" social media account.

In his post, he wrote, "I express my deepest condolences and sympathies to the people and government of the Republic of Korea following the tragic plane crash yesterday."

The Kurdistan Region President concluded his message by writing, "The Kurdistan Region stands with you in this moment of sorrow."

The plane crash occurred early Sunday morning when a South Korean passenger aircraft carrying 181 people crash-landed at Muan Airport. 

As stated by South Korea's domestic fire service official Lee Hyun-ji, 179 passengers lost their lives in the Jeju Air plane crash in Muan city, with only two survivors.

The plane crash represents one of South Korea's worst aviation disasters in recent history.
