KDP, PUK delegations continue talks in Erbil, draft agreement takes shape
Plans are also underway for further visits and the development of practical solutions to address remaining disagreements.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) delegations convened in Erbil’s Saad Abdullah Conference Hall on Thursday for the third consecutive day of discussions, according to Kurdistan 24 reporter Nawras Abdulla.
Abdulla reported that a draft agreement has been prepared, encompassing both shared objectives and areas of contention.
“About 15 points have been outlined in the draft, including six distinct articles addressing the powers of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) president, prime minister, deputy prime minister, ministers, and directors general,” Abdulla explained. The draft also includes discussions on the collection and distribution of revenue across the Kurdistan Region’s provinces.
The technical teams from both parties have engaged in three days of detailed negotiations, reaching agreements on some matters while continuing discussions on unresolved issues described as "red points." Both sides have documented their positions in the draft, which will be reviewed by the high-level political delegations of the KDP and PUK in their upcoming meetings next week.
Plans are also underway for further visits and the development of practical solutions to address remaining disagreements.
Abdulla highlighted the cooperative and urgent approach both sides have demonstrated during the negotiations, underscoring their commitment to completing the necessary steps for forming the new KRG cabinet within the legal timeframe.
The ongoing talks reflect a crucial effort by the two main Kurdish parties to finalize an agreement that will shape the Region's governance and address key administrative and financial issues.
