ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Thursday expressed condolences to the families of the Washington, D.C. plane crash.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic plane crash in Washington, D.C. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families and loved ones affected by this devastating incident,” the Kurdistan Region President said.

A plane and a helicopter collided near Washington, D.C., marking the first major crash in the United States since 2009, when 49 people lost their lives near Buffalo, New York. The incident took place late Wednesday evening as the airliner was approaching Reagan National Airport after a routine flight from Wichita, Kansas.

According to DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, there were 64 people on board the plane, along with three soldiers in the Army helicopter. “Sadly, there are no survivors,” President Donald Trump stated during a news conference at the White House late Thursday morning.
