ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Colonel Rebar Mzuri, the only Kurdish officer in the Eighth Division of the Iraqi army, has been taken into custody for seven days, sources confirmed to Kurdistan24. His detention follows recent tensions in the village of Shanagha.

According to reports, Colonel Mzuri—who commands the first battalion of the 32nd Brigade in the Sargaran subdistrict—was arrested under the orders of the Kirkuk Operations Commander. His case is reportedly linked to his supportive stance toward Kurdish farmers in the region.

Sources indicate that Mzuri has been transferred to the K-1 military base, where he is being investigated under Article 67 of the Military Penal Code. His actions, described as fostering good relations with local farmers, have drawn attention amid broader discussions on military policies and community relations.

Observers are closely monitoring the case, as Colonel Mzuri’s detention raises questions about the balance between military regulations and community engagement in the region.
