ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The United Nations' special envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, issued a strong condemnation on Tuesday against Israel’s ongoing military escalation in Syria, urging all parties to respect international agreements and Syria’s territorial integrity.

Concerns Over Regional Stability

Pedersen expressed deep concern over repeated violations of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement, warning that such actions “risk further destabilizing an already fragile situation, heighten regional tensions, and undermine efforts toward de-escalation.” He called on Israel to cease violations, uphold its international obligations, and avoid unilateral measures that exacerbate the conflict.

Appeal for Diplomatic Solutions

The UN envoy emphasized that "constructive dialogue and strict adherence to international agreements and international law are essential for security in Syria and the broader region." He reiterated the need for all parties to commit to a sustainable political transition in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
