ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — In a groundbreaking announcement at a press conference on Sunday, Duhok Governor Ali Tatar unveiled the launch of the much-anticipated 24-hour electricity project, marking a historic milestone for the region.

The project, which is called Runaki, is being hailed as a major step forward for the province, bringing uninterrupted power to residents for the first time. Governor Tatar emphasized that this initiative is not only affordable but also the most hassle-free solution to the region's long-standing electricity challenges.

“Participants in the Runaki project understand better than anyone that this initiative will provide continuous, reliable power to Duhok residents at an affordable rate,” said Tatar during his address.

Governor Tatar also acknowledged that some media outlets have raised objections to the project, but he remained resolute in his belief that the people of Duhok recognize its importance and potential benefits. “The people know how vital this project is, and they support it wholeheartedly,” he stated.

The Runaki project, which began in Duhok before expanding to other cities and towns in the province, has already been successfully implemented in the Amedi district, which has been designated as a model district for the project. The center of Duhok province is also now receiving continuous electricity, significantly improving daily life for residents.

Governor Tatar took the opportunity to highlight the financial benefits of the project, comparing the costs of the previous electricity system to the current system. “Ask the people how much they used to pay for 24-hour electricity and how much they are paying now. Despite the project’s improvements and efficiency, the people know this Runaki project is in their best interest and will be successfully implemented,” he added.

This new 24-hour electricity project is set to enhance the quality of life for Duhok residents, providing them with a reliable and affordable power source for years to come.
