Syrian Defense Ministry Declares End of Military Operation Against Assad Regime Remnants in Coastal Region
“To those remnants and fugitive officers of the defeated regime—our message is clear: If you return, so will we,” Spokesperson Col. Hussein Abdelghani

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Syrian Ministry of Defense has announced the conclusion of its military operation targeting remnants of the Assad regime in the coastal region, marking what officials describe as a significant step toward restoring stability and enabling the resumption of public services.
In a statement on Monday, Syrian Defense Ministry spokesperson Colonel Hussein Abdelghani confirmed that military objectives had been successfully achieved, allowing government institutions to resume operations in preparation for a return to normalcy. He emphasized that security forces would continue their efforts to ensure stability, protect civilians, and facilitate investigations into past injustices.
Operation’s Success and Securing Vital Areas
Speaking on social media platform X, Colonel Abdelghani declared that the second phase of military operations had met its goals, stating: “We honor our commitment to our people. Thanks to the determination of our forces, we have achieved all the objectives of this phase.”
He detailed how security forces repelled attacks from remnants of the former regime, neutralized their tactical advantages, and secured key infrastructure. The forces successfully cleared key locations in Latakia province, including Al-Mukhtariya, Al-Mazir’ah, and Al-Zubar, as well as several areas in Tartous province, such as Al-Daliyah, Tanita, and Al-Qadmous.
“The threat has been neutralized, and the region is now secure,” Abdelghani added, underscoring that those military efforts prevented further harm to civilians and essential government facilities.
Ensuring Long-Term Stability and Accountability
With the conclusion of military operations, security agencies are now shifting focus to maintaining long-term stability. Abdelghani revealed plans for bolstering security operations to prevent any resurgence of Assad regime loyalists, dismantle remaining criminal cells, and ensure lasting peace in the liberated areas.
Furthermore, an investigative committee has been established to examine past events and bring justice to those affected by previous regime actions. “This committee will have full authority to uncover the truth and ensure justice for the oppressed,” the spokesperson stated.
A Warning to Former Regime Loyalists
Issuing a final warning to surviving members of the Assad regime, Abdelghani declared: “To those remnants and fugitive officers of the defeated regime—our message is clear: If you return, so will we. And you will find before you men who do not retreat and show no mercy to those whose hands are stained with the blood of the innocent.”
Regional Implications
This announcement marks a significant shift in Syria’s internal power dynamics, particularly in the strategic coastal region where remnants of the Assad regime have continued to challenge the new authorities. The coastal provinces of Latakia and Tartous have historically been strongholds of the Assad government, making this military success a crucial turning point in ongoing efforts to consolidate control and stabilize the country.
The developments come amid broader regional tensions, with various factions vying for control in post-war Syria. The Syrian government’s assertion of security and its efforts to establish a functioning administrative system will be closely watched by international observers, particularly regarding human rights concerns and the treatment of former regime affiliates.
As the situation unfolds, the focus now shifts to reconstruction, governance, and maintaining the fragile stability that the government has declared in these key regions.
