DEM Party Calls on Erdogan to Join Dialogue on Political Crisis
"We are discussing a matter of critical importance, and President Erdogan must take part in these negotiations," Tuncer Bakirhan asserted

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) has urged Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to actively participate in ongoing political discussions, emphasizing that his involvement is crucial to addressing key national issues.
Speaking on Tuesday, Tuncer Bakirhan, co-chair of the DEM Party, stressed the importance of direct engagement at the highest levels, particularly in response to the recent call for dialogue initiated by Abdullah Ocalan, the jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Dialogue with Political Parties
As part of their political outreach, DEM Party co-chairs Tulay Hatimogullari and Tuncer Bakirhan met with Mahmut Arikan, chairman of the Saadet Party, to discuss pressing national issues, including governance in northern and northeastern Syria (Rojava) and broader domestic concerns within Turkey.
Bakirhan described the meeting as "constructive," noting that discussions centered on the agreement between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the Syrian interim government, as well as pressing matters affecting Turkey.
He reiterated the necessity of parliamentary engagement, stating, "The role of Parliament has been clearly emphasized in recent calls for dialogue. It must take an active role in legal reforms, legislative processes, and the formulation of a concrete roadmap for political resolution and national reconciliation."
Call for Erdogan’s Participation
The DEM Party co-chair further insisted that dialogue with President Erdogan is essential in tackling the country’s political challenges. "Undoubtedly, our delegation will seek a meeting with Mr. Erdogan, as he is one of the key actors in resolving this crisis," Bakirhan said, adding that their delegation stands ready to present its proposals at any time.
"We are discussing a matter of critical importance, and President Erdogan must take part in these negotiations," Bakirhan asserted, emphasizing that broader participation from other political parties is also necessary to ensure an inclusive and effective resolution.
