PM Barzani, PUK President agree on key steps for forming KRG tenth cabinet

Both leaders expressed optimism following the talks, which focused on the procedures and steps required to establish a new government.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Bafel Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), on Sunday to discuss the formation of the tenth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). The meeting marked another step forward in the ongoing negotiations to form a strong and unified government for the region.

Both leaders expressed optimism following the talks, which focused on the procedures and steps required to establish a new government. The discussions were described as productive, with both sides emphasizing the need for a government that prioritizes the service and well-being of the Kurdish people.

At a joint press conference following the meeting, President Talabani shared his positive outlook on the discussions. “Our meeting was excellent. We agreed on several strategic matters that will benefit our nation. Our meetings will continue, and our goal is to form a government that serves our people as soon as possible,” Talabani stated.

Prime Minister Barzani echoed Talabani's sentiments, highlighting the constructive nature of the meeting. “This is the second time we have had a constructive meeting aimed at bringing us closer together and discussing issues that are important to the people of Kurdistan and our region in general. There has been significant progress and understanding on these issues, and I hope that the delegations can reach a comprehensive agreement on the formation of the government in the near future,” Barzani said.
