KRG Interior Minister Reaffirms Strong Ties with France at Border Security Summit

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – At the Border Security Summit in London on Monday, Rebar Ahmed, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Interior Minister, met with French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau to discuss important matters related to international security, focusing on efforts against terrorist organizations.
During the meeting, Minister Ahmed highlighted the vital role of French support for the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces in their ongoing battle against ISIS. He expressed his gratitude for France's contributions in the fight against terrorism and emphasized the need for continued collaboration.
In turn, Minister Retailleau reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting the Kurdistan Region, commending the region’s significant contributions to combating ISIS and other terrorist groups, as well as criminal networks. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries in securing the region and ensuring global peace.
The Border Security Summit, which kicked off on Monday, brings together interior, justice, and border security officials from multiple nations, aiming to strengthen international efforts in combating cross-border terrorism and criminal activities.
Minister Ahmed is attending the summit in London at the official invitation of the British Home Office, accompanied by several KRG officials. The two-day event provides a platform for discussing shared security challenges and reinforcing international partnerships.
