ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the transitional Syrian government have reached an agreement concerning the Kurdish-majority neighborhoods of Ashrafiyeh and Sheikh Maqsoud in Aleppo, ensuring the protection of civilian institutions and the release of all detainees.

The Syrian Interior Ministry announced the agreement on Tuesday, confirming that Kurdish forces will withdraw from both neighborhoods as part of the deal. Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for maintaining the security and functionality of civilian institutions in these areas.

A key component of the accord is the facilitation of movement between the two Kurdish neighborhoods and the northeastern regions of Syria, a measure expected to ease tensions and improve local connectivity.

This development follows a broader agreement signed nearly a month ago between SDF commander-in-chief Mazloum Abdi and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, aiming to integrate Kurdish forces into the newly structured Syrian army. The latest agreement marks a significant step in ongoing negotiations between the Kurdish forces and the Syrian government.
