ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Hayat Murad, a gifted Ezidi woman from northern Shingal, has etched her name into the global arena by becoming the first Ezidi woman to be nominated for TC Candler’s prestigious list of the “100 Most Beautiful Faces in the World” for 2025. Her nomination is not merely a celebration of outward beauty—it is a compelling tribute to the strength, creativity, and cultural depth of a woman who defied the odds.

A Voice from Shingal, speaking to the World

In an exclusive interview with Kurdistan 24, Hayat Murad recounted her journey from the war-torn shadows of Shingal to international recognition. A graduate of the English Department at the University of Duhok, Hayat is fluent, articulate, and deeply thoughtful. Yet it is her artistic talent that has given her a platform beyond borders.

“Language opened doors, but it was art that truly expressed who I am,” she said, noting that her creative work has often centered around the Ezidi community and women’s empowerment.

Beauty with Purpose

Hayat rose to national prominence during the Miss Iraq 2022 pageant, where she represented Ezidi women with elegance and determination. “I didn’t join the competition for the crown,” she said. “I wanted to be a voice for countless Ezidi women who survived trauma and now walk proudly into the future.”

Her participation wasn’t just symbolic—it challenged entrenched perceptions and brought Ezidi narratives to the national stage.

The Brush That Speaks of Pain and Hope
Beyond the catwalk and cameras, Hayat is a recognized visual artist whose paintings have been exhibited in international galleries. One of her most notable achievements was receiving a certificate of recognition from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for her contributions to a global art competition.

“Art is my language. Through it, I convey the dreams and wounds of my people,” she said.

A Historic Nomination

When TC Candler announced Hayat Murad’s inclusion in the global list of the “100 Most Beautiful Faces,” it marked a historic first—not only for her but for the Ezidi community as a whole. The platform, known for its inclusive and diverse definition of beauty, recognized Hayat’s impact beyond aesthetic appeal.

“This nomination is not just mine,” Hayat told Kurdistan 24. “It belongs to every Ezidi girl who has longed for her rightful place in this world. I’m honored to represent them.”

Redefining Beauty and Bravery

For Hayat, beauty is a vessel for values. “True beauty is measured by the impact we leave on others,” she said. “I want to be an example for every girl who has endured hardship, who dared to continue despite it all. We are worthy of life, dignity, and success.”

Hayat Murad’s story is not one of glamour alone—it is a narrative of courage, purpose, and identity. In a world often preoccupied with appearances, she reminds us that the most radiant beauty is rooted in resilience, authenticity, and the power to inspire.
