ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday congratulated Nouri al-Maliki following his re-election as the Secretary-General of the Islamic Dawa Party, a position Maliki reclaimed during the party’s 19th general congress.
In an official message, Prime minister Barzani conveyed his congratulations to Maliki on the occasion of both the successful conclusion of the congress and his renewed appointment as the party’s secretary-general.
“We are pleased to extend our warmest congratulations and blessings on the success of your 19th General Conference, the renewal of confidence in you, and your unanimous election as Secretary-General of the Islamic Dawa Party. We wish you continued success and guidance in your duties and responsibilities, in the service of Iraq and its people in all their components,” the premier’s message read. He also extended his best wishes for Maliki’s success in his duties.
The message underscores a tone of formality and respect between political figures from Baghdad and Erbil amid Iraq’s broader efforts to sustain national unity and inter-party dialogue.
The 19th congress of the Islamic Dawa Party marks a significant moment for the party, as it continues to navigate Iraq’s shifting political landscape and prepare for upcoming strategic challenges, both within federal institutions and in the country’s evolving regional relations.
