Iraqi President to Sign Bill Granting Provincial Status to Halabja

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid is scheduled to officially sign the bill granting Halabja full provincial status on Tuesday at the Republican Palace in Baghdad.
According to Kurdistan24’s reporter in Baghdad, Dilan Barzan, the bill was formally submitted to the presidency by Shakhawan Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament. President Rashid is expected to sign the legislation, finalizing a historic step for the city and its people.
On April 14, the Iraqi Parliament overwhelmingly approved the bill to elevate Halabja to a province, following a long-awaited session marked by broad support.
