US Military Convoy Moves Toward Strategic Air Base in Iraq’s Saladin province
While the size of the force and the nature of its mission have not been officially disclosed, the movement reportedly took place under tight security measures. No statement has been issued by the US military or the Iraqi government regarding the deployment.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A convoy of US military vehicles was seen moving toward the Gayara Air Base in Iraq’s northern Saladin province on Thursday, a security source confirmed to local media.
While the size of the force and the nature of its mission have not been officially disclosed, the movement reportedly took place under tight security measures. No statement has been issued by the US military or the Iraqi government regarding the deployment.
Gayara Air Base, located approximately 60 kilometers south of Mosul, is a key strategic installation that was previously used by US forces during operations against ISIS as part of the international coalition.
According to media reports, the convoy is believed to have originated from northeastern Syria (Rojava), possibly linked to the ongoing repositioning or withdrawal of US troops from Syrian territory.
Photographs circulating online appear to show at least one US armored vehicle equipped with mine-resistant technology and a separate truck transporting a laser-based air defense system, possibly capable of intercepting high-energy laser (HEL-MD) ballistic missile threats.
The movement comes amid regional security tensions and renewed discussions around the future of foreign military presences in Iraq and Syria.
