U.S. Conducts 29 Airstrikes Overnight on Houthi Targets Across Five Yemeni Provinces
U.S. fighter jets reportedly targeted strategic Houthi positions, including Ras Issa Port and Kamaran Island in the Al-Salif area of Hodeidah Governorate.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The United States has sharply escalated its air campaign against Houthi forces in Yemen, conducting 29 airstrikes overnight Sunday into Monday across five provinces, according to Al Arabiya/Al Hadath sources.
U.S. fighter jets reportedly targeted strategic Houthi positions, including Ras Issa Port and Kamaran Island in the Al-Salif area of Hodeidah Governorate. In the capital region, American warplanes struck sites south of Sanaa, with three of the strikes hitting weapons depots in the Al-Sawad military camp, causing powerful explosions that shook the city.
Additional strikes were carried out in Bani Matar district, west of Sanaa, where at least six airstrikes hit Houthi-controlled positions. Houthi-affiliated media claimed that 14 people were injured in U.S. strikes on Al-Arbaeen Street in the capital.
Meanwhile, three American airstrikes also hit Houthi sites east of Saada city, a traditional Houthi stronghold in northern Yemen.
These airstrikes come just hours after a missile launched from Yemen struck near Israel’s main international airport, Ben Gurion, prompting a temporary suspension of flights and drawing sharp warnings from Israeli officials. The Iran-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the strike, stating that they had fired a hypersonic ballistic missile in support of Palestinians in Gaza. Though the missile did not directly hit the airport, the explosion left a significant crater in an orchard nearby, with the airport’s control tower visible in the background.
Israeli authorities confirmed the attempted missile interception and later resumed operations at the airport. In response to the incident, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed severe retaliation, declaring, “Anyone who hits us, we will hit them seven times stronger.”
This marked a serious escalation in the Houthis’ involvement in the regional conflict, extending their reach deep into Israeli territory. Since the onset of the Gaza war following Hamas’ October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, the Houthis have launched multiple missile and drone attacks on Israel and commercial vessels in the Red Sea, portraying their actions as a form of resistance in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
The U.S. and its allies have responded with increased naval patrols and precision airstrikes aimed at degrading the Houthis’ missile infrastructure and deterring further threats to regional stability and international maritime routes. Sunday night's 29 airstrikes reflect the growing urgency with which Washington is addressing the Houthi threat, especially as the group's capabilities and targets expand across borders.
