US Congressman Joe Wilson Praises Kurdistan Region as Model of Stability and Success

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson on Tuesday commended the Kurdistan Region and its leadership during an interview with Kurdistan24, describing the Kurdish people and their government as an "inspiration" and a "model of hard work and success."

Wilson emphasized the strategic importance of the Kurdistan Region in the broader Middle East and reaffirmed strong American support for the region.

"I'm so grateful for the success of the Kurdistan Regional Government," Wilson said. "Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the people of the Kurdish region are an inspiration — a model of hard work, success, and the pursuit of stability for their families, their children, and the future of the region."

The Congressman, a longstanding advocate of Kurdish-American relations, highlighted his personal engagement with the Kurdish community over the years and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Barzani in Washington.

"Just moments ago, I left a meeting with President Trump and came directly to be with Prime Minister Barzani because I wanted him to know how much the American people appreciate the Kurdish region," he said.

Wilson also pointed to broader developments in the region, noting the former U.S. administration's efforts to boost economic cooperation in the Gulf states and support post-conflict recovery in Syria.

“We’re witnessing President Trump’s success in promoting commercial development in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE,” he stated. “He has announced the lifting of sanctions to support Syria’s transition from dictatorship to economic development — a change that benefits the entire region.”

He concluded by stressing that Kurdistan remains central to peace and progress in the Middle East.

“At the heart of this region lies Kurdistan, and we want it to succeed. Its success is vital to the stability and prosperity of the Middle East.”

The visit by Prime Minister Barzani to Washington underscores ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen U.S.-Kurdistan Region ties amid regional and global challenges.
